Worlds Rarest Horse Breeds

The Lipizzan horse is beautiful and famous the world over. They were saved by General Patton and his troops during World War II. The Lipizzan is not born white but a dark color and they turn white by the time they are 10 years old. They make great show horses. There are several horses that are considered rare and they are all great.

Of all the rare horse breeds, the Lipizzan is probably the best known.  The Lipizzans are famous all over the world.  They have madeVienna,Austriatheir main home for 100’s of years.  General George Patton and his troops saved the Lipizzans during World War II.  They returned the Lipizzan mares toAustria.  There are only a few thousand Lipizzans but the numbers have slowly been increasing over the years.

In the late 20th century, the Lipizzans proved they were good competition horses by competing in dressage, pleasure riding and driving classes.  The Lipizzan is intelligent, beautiful and very athletic.

Lipizzans are not a big horse standing between 14.2 and 15.2 hands high.  They are born black-brown, brown or gray but will lighten and by the time they are between 6 and 10 years old, they will be white.  It is very rare to get a brown or black adult.

The Maremmano comes from Maremma on the coast of Tuscan.  They are also known as the Tuscan horse.  They are used by the cattlemen in the area to do the ranch work.  At one time, they were the mounts used by the Italian Calvary.

It is said by some the Maremmano are descended from the Neapolitan horses from the 16th century.  The Maremmano is a good choice for working cattle.  They are also great for police horses.

The Kabardin is a rare horse that comes from northern Caucasus.  This horse goes back to the 16th century.  The Kabardin is a very sure-footed horse.  The Kabardin is black and stands about 15 hands.

The Kabardin horses are strong horses with a lot of endurance.  They are sure footed and are great mountain and endurance horses.

The Wielhopolski is a warm-blooded horse from Poland and is not very well known.  They are 16.2 hands high and are very powerful and strong.  They are great when used in dressage classes and jumping classes.

The Akhi-Teke is a rare and gorgeous horse.  The Akhi-Teke is a true desert horse.  They are a bold and very intelligent.  They stand 15 to 16 hands and weigh 900 to 1000 pounds.

The Akhi-Teke was originally bred to be used as war horses.  They are now used as endurance, dressage, jumping and eventing horses.  An Akhi-Teke Stallion named Absent won six Olympic dressage medals in his career.  Akhi-Teke horses are very good endurance horses.  The Akhi-Teke is very rare and there only a few thousand in existence today.

These horses are all unusual and beautiful.   There are many other breeds that are not that common but these are believed by many people to be the rarest.
